One Month Later... Wednesday 15th October 2008, 9:38 AM
Well, welcome to the new DerekHyams.com! It's been hard to accomplish, starting a new job, re-starting unit, and just general motivation too. What doesn't help too is that I'm on a manhunt. The site needed an update from asp to php, essentially converting a book from language to another. It's not hard but just a little lengthy and tedious. I don't talk about my job too much on here for various reasons, but let's just say I do the same hours, work much harder, but I don't deal with customers any more, I get more responsibility, an has re-made me think my job, it's a 6 month placement, but I feel it may be longer.
My unit he's resumed meaning I'm on my final course! 6/6! Woo! I can't wait to finish, qualifying me as a web designer, and I'm so proud that I finished this, because I was just slightly stressed when I first saw what I had to do. I apologise for my lack of vocabulary this morning at 7am. I've spoke to John a couple of times ad it's been pretty good. Can I please just state we aren’t boyfriends, and he's not just fun! I'm branding the situation as complex. I don't know what's going to happen and I'm still moving out to America for a year, I just need a plan, save, get a visa, job, accommodation, and ill probably consider it this time next year. Well, that is if nothing else better comes along.
Ahh, the manhunt, yes it's time to get serious, but apparently don tell anyone I’m looking it's time to change a few things and portray a different image. Whether it's a new job that'll take me there or America I'm not too sure yet, but ideally one of them will. My sister was talking to me the other say and when I suggested going to America for year, she and I both knew how much mum would screw, get emotional, and give a long lecture on how he won't see me, etc, but my sister mentioned that:
- My sister has a husband,
- My mum has her partner,
- My brother has his girlfriend,
- All of them long term too,
Although I do realise I am the youngest I don't have a partner. My mum does have a companion, so it's not like she is alone, whereas before you would have been alone since had a painful divorce a couple of years ago. I want to take a year out, I realize it isn't 100% perfect but at least it's a different atmosphere out there. What I've gained is that London is;
- Really expensive
- Not-so-feesable to live in, yet it has convenience
- Rude!
London is so wrapped up into its own little cultural ball people come across as rude, selfish and unfriendly. Recently chatting to someone random in a bar, the first thing he said to me was do you guys have a problem with Hispanics? Not rudely, but he was curious to know. Do we? I didn't know?! He actually turned out to be a really nice guy, leading to a 23 hour date. He was such a nice guy. Generous, friendly, confident, outgoing, and was incredibly sexy too. It's just a shame he had to go back to USA last Tuesday, but we still chat though…
