iPhone: The DerekHyams.com Way!
Sunday 11th November 2007, 12:00 AM

Well i said i wanted to get one, and i did, and am more than pleased with it!

Th iPhone is one fab peice of technology and is most likely the best experience ive had when shopping! I queued for 3 hours, sitting down at times, but was definitely worth it, with all the hype, media and freebies Wink

We all got coffee, pizza, water if needed and i also grabbed an 'iQueued' poncho, but i dont think ill be wearing it so soon. Coming down the siars with my iphone bad i gave a roar to the crowd and everyone cheered at me, what a great experience.

When i came to the launch and 6:02, i was in the queue walking slowly, and had my iPhone in my grasp with 10 minutes, the amount of stock they had by the tills should make they dont go out of stock too soon.

There was tons of media there and i had 2 peronal interviews so happy about that.

As for the phone itself? not a problem at all, Theres 3 contracts, for 18 months, £35, £45, and £55. I chose the £45 which gives me 600 minutes and 500 texts. Im currently waiting for my number to be ported over so i have a temporary one for the moment, so if i call you, make sure you dont save it!

The phone is a luxury, i get UNLIMIITED data usage via edge, its not the fastest in the worl but a much better advancement then the browser on the k800i. Everythings perfect and its great for pictures, which come out great quality even at 2 megapixels, ok no flash or movie functions but still, nice camera, and can take lots of pictures pretty fast.

The ipod is as good as expected, and the itunes wifi store works like a dream, especially that ive still got 4 free purchases left on it Smile.

Web browser it great, shame it doesnt have flash but still, most sites i go on dont need flash so its all good Happy theres been a rise in iphone sites and they're ok but when you have a full web browser iphone.facebook.com is a tad boring and limited.

Setting up email was a breeze and didnt have to contact the network or nothing, all synced fromm windows mail (vista) and was all ready to go! when the phone locks to put it in my pocket, i can set a 4 digit code to lock the phone, and that pretty handy too.

I can see why the network was specific, since i can do alot with my network without having to dial any number, I can record my greeting right from the phone, change my prefernences with the operator, again without dailing any numbers.

Youtube is quite fun, buty a little slugish on the mobile network, on wifi it does work like a dream, so theres always something to keep you entertained. The screen is lush and couldnt be crisper, and the multi-touch works like a dream!

Now the downsides...

I found that my headphones dont fit it, not the jack, but the rubber grip does not recess into the phone so it only half fits in. you have to by this gadget to convert it and these seem to be the only headphones that work directly, but i have emailed sennheiser and would consider buying some more headphones fromt hem since they are great value and quality for £30. Lets hope they create a new pair with the mic on.

The speaker on the base of it, is probably less than a centimetre wide so i wont moan too much but, most songs with a beat dont sound good with the equalizer on, and can be very disorted.

Overall, im well happy with my purchse and do not need proof the the N95 is better Wink

At first I didnt want one, but I must admit, since getting an ipod touch, I am now more tempted with the iphone. Still, I am not overly impressed with the high cost of running it and lack of features such as 3G, camera flash, and video recording. Personally I think I will just wait for version 2, which knowing Apple will be due out sometime in the next 12 months!!
