Its quite ironic that this is the second blog ive wrote about my desktop PC dying on me, although fortunately it has come at a better time since I do get my bonus next month. For some reason my motherboard stopped functioning, I dont know how I did but its going to cost quite a bit to upgrade to new standards. I'm hoping if I go all out and I'll be able to keep this specification of for at least half a decade without the need to upgrade majorly.
Ive sold my old power supply on ebay since I thought that was an issue, but it wasn't Grr with my new power supply I'm going to a quad core extreme, with DDR3 RAM wohoo, I couldn't get much more of a geek at this point so I'm just going to to on. Its going to be about £600 for the processor alone, £170 for the 2GB's memory, £80 for the motherboard, all running at 1066Mhz FSB. Im not entirely sure what front side bus does, but from what I can gather its the speed at which the components on the motherboard communicate at.
Ive ebayed the parts I didnt want, like the old Processor, Memory, and PSU, and got about £90, and that's a £90 I dont have to fork out on my new one. Me tinks that tom may want a go

Man, forget DDR3 and just go 64-bit and have 16GB of RAM.

I change my mind, 64-bit Vista might be a bad idea.
