Soon to be: 21 and in Hawaii? Sunday 4th May 2008, 12:00 AM
Have you ever said you wanted to do something to change the way you live your normal life? your so used to doing 'A' to 'B' maybe a spot of 'C' and in the Evening, 'D'. Well if that makes any sense? It could be giving up smoking (for the last time), drink less (or more), get out more (or party less) travel more, earn more money. change your boring job....
I would love to travel more, since theres a whole planet to explore, I would love to go to tons of places in the world but finding the money can be quite hard, and its a case of getting people to go with you, time off work etc....
My adventure started when i was speaking to Aaron, the guy whos currently in Australia, with 3 weeks left until he moves on to his next country for a week. he has about 3 weeks to leave his temporary job, leave his accomodation, and move onto to Hawaii. Hes basically travelling around the world and invited me to the last part of his trip.
Ive never been outside the EU (sad isn't it), I really want explore different coutries, origins, languages, customs and food, personally it hink it broadens ones personality and opens yourself up to what is really out there.
Aaroon suggested me coming out to hawaii with me, and having a brief look on the internet, gave me an idea to how much it would cost, since id only need a flight, they have already got a hotel out there, booked. I brushed away the idea considering it too be too expensive and i already had plans for the 24th of may. My mum booked us to go to the Tutankhamun at the o2 arena.
The more I though about it, the more I wanted to do it!... all id have to do is;
- book time off work 3 weeks before i want to go, also in a busy period
- ask my mum and cousins to move the Tutankhamun for another day
- find a grand...
hmmm.... im up for a challenge!
Step 1, Ask my mum to move the event. After explaining that it is my 21st and I only have this once in a lifetime chance to spend a major birthday on an island, she seemed willing...
Step 2, Time off work, at this point there was no turning back so they'd have to give me the time off or id just say id had already booked the flight... hehe... i couldnt believe it, after looking through the rotor, i thought there was no chance, but yes i got the time off!
Step 3, Well, i havnt got that far yet... Ive emailed Aaron with all the details, like accomodation and their times they are staying and leaving, and then ill probably book it next week...
I suggested it to Connie, a lovely lady who is adventurous at heart, and still going strong! I went round to fix her PC, and she said seriously look, your only young once, go out and enjoy yourself. She also gave me a mint suitcase that she didnt need! score!
Ill be leaving here on the 21st of may, and coming back on the 28th (maybe 29th due to the time difference) its a 19 hour flight and i stop off at San Francisco 3 1/4s, for the flight to the island. The price if £530, but thats not bad considering how long ill be on the plane! OOOh im sooo excited! will keep you updated!
